Have you ever wanted to be a potter? Why not experience being a potter for a day:
I offer a Whole Day Class for beginners or those with experience. The workshop is designed to give a group of four friends or colleagues a taste of several making techniques. If however you would prefer to spend the whole day working on one technique -that is fine.
As the group is small, I will have plenty of time to discuss techniques with you if you have specific plans. Alternatively I have a large collection art & ceramics books to stimulate creativity- or the plants and animals living on our smallholding may give you decorative ideas!
The aim is that each person has made 3-4 pieces of work by the end of the day. I will dry your work slowly, then biscuit fire it in my kiln (at approx 1000oC). Then I will glaze the pieces, put the work back into the kiln where it will undergo a second (glaze) firing at approx 1100oC.
I run these workshops generally on either Saturdays or Sundays from 10-4pm. The charge includes the use of all materials, firing of your pots and lunch made with our own produce. I charge £198 to run the workshop day for a group of four people, this works out at £49.50 per person. I request a £10 deposit per person to secure the booking.
As an alternative to a whole day workshop, I now offer a birthday taster 'Cake and Clay' day- a short workshop held for 2 hours on a suitable afternoon or evening to celebrate that special occasion for a group of 8 friends or family. My widest age range so far has been a party with a 3 year old and an 80 year old and all ages in between! You bring along the cake and I'll provide the clay and coffee.
I charge £12.50 per person and this includes the cost of the biscuit and glaze firings of your pot. I ask for a deposit at the time of booking and confirmation of the numbers attending a day or two before the party. I will then prepare the workshop for that number of people and charge accordingly.
