Hi, I'm Finola Delamere, a studio potter living in a small village between the country towns of Grantham and Melton Mowbray on the border of the counties of Leicestershire and Lincolnshire in the UK.
I throw pots on the wheel and I also handbuild ceramics ...
The wheel thrown pottery work is mainly domestic ware. I enjoy making bowls, jugs, mugs, goblets -and also teapots, but I only make these to commission. I also make garden wall pots for outside the home. I will have work on display at the Rutland Open Studios Taster exhibition at the Victoria Hall, Oakham on Thursday 12th June 6-8pm and then at Hay Cottage, Morcott from 21st June - 13th July 2008 |
The handbuilt sculptural work is constructed from slabs of clay. All my work is made with a red earthenware clay which I dip in a tin glaze after the biscuit firing. I decorate the unfired glaze with brushwork in the maiolica tradition. All my work is impressed with a 'FIN' stamp when the clay is soft. I have my own Gallery attached to my workshop in Croxton Kerrial in rural Leicestershire where my work is permanently exhibited. I also exhibit at other venues throughout the East Midlands. My husband Fred McPherson and I live on a smallholding which we share with our sheep & lambs, geese, hens and bees. This is the largest commission I have made to date -which has just been installed in a conservatory -see the Sculptural & Handbuilt page for details.
